Welcome to our 5th annual Mother's Day/Queen for a Day contest. If you want to see previous contestants, you can check them out here.

This year's contestants are listed below, and each of them will share their story with you. Under each animal's photo is a button which will allow you to "vote" for that animal with a donation made in their name (which will be used to care for all our animals), by either credit card (no Paypal account required) or by Paypal account (you can also mail in a donation here). On May 10th (the day after mother's day), we will add up all the donations raised by each animal and crown our "Queen for a Day" (and share it on our website).

This year, you can even vote for ALL 4 constentants at once by clicking here.

In addition, if you make a "vote / donation" online, you will have access to a Mother's Day PDF card we have made (just print it and fold it), which you can use to honor your mom as well. If your donation is at least $15, we can even post an "In Honor of" or "Memorial" to your mom as well on our website.

Now, let's meet this year's contestants.........

CALLIE

Hi. I’m Callie. I’m a little shy but very sweet. I came into Animal Outreach last fall with my four kittens. I had all girls if you can believe it! I was with this nice lady who helped me raise my kittens, but she needed some help as she was older and in poor health. She couldn’t keep me or my kitties, so she called Animal Outreach and off we went to this great place called a foster home.

I liked it there. I had a few minor problems with ear infections so it took me awhile to go up for adoption after I was um…altered. In fact, I’m still up for adoption, waiting for that special family to find me. Like all animals, I have my own special personality. For example, I am really afraid of those doggie animals, and I’m not real fond of little kids…they move too fast.

Animal Outreach is caring for me real well, so I’m in good hands, but I'd really like your vote as I wait patiently for that day I find my forever home.

IVY

Hi! I’m Ivy and I have a story to tell you. I used to have a home, but somewhere along the way I found myself homeless, and boy was it cold outside. It wouldn’t have been so bad, but I was out there with my six young kittens, and I was pretty confused and so worried for my babies and me.

Well this girl and her family saw us by their house, and knew they had to do something. She had real bad allergies, but she knew about this place called Animal Outreach because she worked at a place called Petsmart. She and her family spent a long time getting all of us rounded up together. I came right to them, as I didn’t want to have anything to do with living outside in the freezing weather, but getting all my kittens was a bigger challenge.

Well I was soooo grateful to be brought into the warmth of my foster mom’s house. We were all clean and social and obviously had been cared for by someone at some point, but hey, I was happy again now.

I love laps and yummy food, and once I got into my foster home, well, I was glad to let my kittens move on without me. They were old enough and I needed to find a home where I could be queen of the castle. I didn’t like other animals much but I made up for it by being sooo sweet and quite a looker, if I must say.

Please vote for me so Animal Outreach can help more moms like myself move on to the purrfect home, where I am now.

JESSIE

Hey y’all I’m Jessie. I’m from down south. I’m a young single mom with five super cute kittens. One day not long ago I think I was in a bad situation, me and lots of other moms and their little ones were being threatened with something called euthanasia. Not sure what that is, but I’m glad now I’ll never have to know.

Well supposedly this lady was trying to get lots of shelters to rescue us and many other kitties from a place where there are lots of homeless kitties. Fortunately, this group called Animal Outreach rescued me and my little ones along with two other moms and their babies.

Many others were saved as well by other shelters and we all got put into carriers and took a long drive north. Two ladies from Animal Outreach drove real far to get us and deliver us to our foster homes. I love my foster home, I get lots of petting, all the food and water I want and a safe place to care for my little ones. I love my babies and I am a great mom. I’d love to be considered for this Mother’s Day thing in honor of all the mom cats hoping for the chance to raise our little ones, even when the odds are against us.

MOMMA MIA

Hey! I’m Mamma Mia. Last summer I was living in a neighborhood in McHenry, where different people fed me and sometimes let me into their houses. But then things got more complicated, as shockingly (ok, maybe not so much), I got pregnant.

I was taken by McHenry Animal Control, and I gave birth to four kittens. Well, I was a little inexperienced at what to do and my babies got stuck together because I didn’t know to clean them real well. A veterinarian helped clean my kittens and even had to stitch them up a little bit (don’t worry, they’re fine). That same day Animal Outreach came and took me to my foster home. I heard someone say that Animal Outreach worked with Animal Control often, and had taken over 380 animals into their foster care program, including me and my babies.

My foster mom was awesome, every day she helped to make sure my babies healed real well while I busily fed them. I turned out to be a super mom, even though I was a little bitty thing. When my kittens were big and ready to be spayed and neutered we all went and had a little procedure done so I don’t have to do the whole mom thing again. Don’t get me wrong I loved my babies but there are too many of us out there and I wanted to move on and find a permanent inside home.

All my kittens found great homes and me too. I was even adopted with a kitten named Buttercup because we got along so well. I’ll be forever grateful to Animal Outreach for caring for my babies and me.
